Does Your Deodorant Contain Any of These Harmful Chemicals?

Aluminum Compounds (tetrachlorohydrex gly, aluminum chlorohydrate, aluminum zirconium)

Aluminum compounds are the active ingredient in antiperspirants and they act as a plug within the sweat ducts to temporarily block the flow of sweat. Research suggests that aluminum-based compounds are easily absorbed through the skin and can disrupt the naturally-produced hormone, estrogen, which is a possible risk factor for the formation of breast cancer. Aluminum exposure has been linked to health issues that affect the brain, kidney and liver. Great, you don’t sweat, but now you have cancer….or you can take parsley.

Parabens (ethyl, propyl, benzyl, methyl, buytl)

A variety of parabens are used as a preservatives in deodorant and antiperspirant to prevent bacterial growth. Turns out that these parabens may be linked to breast cancer. A study was conducted that showed that 99% of tissue samples collected from breast cancer masectomies had at least one paraben in the tissue.

Triclosan is a skin irritant that can cause contact dermatitis. Our bodies have good and bad bacteria on and in them, and Triclosan kills them all. It is also a possible carcinogen and is listed as a pesticide by the EPA. (registered pesticides – Triclosan)

Propylene Glycol

Considered a neurotoxin. Also referred to as PEG and Polyethylene Glycol. It is known to cause contact dermatitis, delayed allergic reactions, liver and kidney damage. Also not good.

Talc, Silica, Phalates (fragrance), Steareth-n….

More carcinogens, neurotoxins, and hormone disruptors.
